SnugHouse, Vol. 2 closes a second chapter in our journey.
After returning from our first full tour around New England over a year ago, we wanted to capture the sound and spirit of our live arrangements, having watched them grow to become something quite different from the studio recordings we had released to date. In the early months of 2019, we got to work with a half day of tracking at Acadia Recording Co in Portland, and a few recording sessions in our rehearsal space.
Unfortunately, before these recordings were finished, Nikhil got a concussion that put the band on hold for the better part of a year, and in that time, Alex, Laura and Rosie made the decision to move on from SnugHouse.
When health and circumstances permitted us to revisit this work, we were looking at a very different landscape within the band. Today the group is a duo (Sam and Nikhil), with the others finding new ways to pursue playing the music they love. That said, all five of us remain really proud of these songs and arrangements, and still want our listeners to be able to hear them. Though we ended up multi-tracking most of these recordings, this EP is an honest glimpse into what a live SnugHouse quintet show felt like in 2018.
Thanks for listening. More soon.
